"IPG Isn't Really a Band Anymore"

IPG

The Incessant Pop Group was like a meteor, blazing across the night sky before evaporating just as quickly, leaving an indelible line for the audience.

The group consisted of two multi-instrumentalists, James Burke and Luke Hunter, coupled with the voice of Julia Farrar. They created their infectious electro-rock using the most primitive tools, making modern music within the context of minimal technology. This blend was at both engaging and tuneful, making their shows move with a motion and energy rarely seen from more seasoned groups.

They released two 4 song EP's for A Mystic Disc records to considerable success. Both releases sold their entire pressings, and the band was able to turn that into their own PA system to help drive their live show, which was gaining momentum.

Following a triumphant first out of town show at The Space in Hamden, CT, the group suddenly disbanded. No real reason was ever revealed, so the audience was left to wonder. Was it from James Burke's realization after seeing Daft Punk live that it was all so pointless? Was it due to Luke Hunter's solo ambitions? Was it due to the pressure of their audience building? Or was it when Julia Farrar lost her cell phone during a visit to the Isabella Gardner Museum in Boston? Perhaps, we will never know the whole truth. But we here at the MMA bring you the permanance of their recorded work.
