Lost Portersville Music Recovered! During the summer of 1999, at the cusp of a new century, Portersville began tracking their unreleased EP "Portersville" in Middletown, CT with Michael Arafeh. This "lost" recording has intrigued fans and non-fans alike with an elusive nature akin to Dylan's "Great White Wonder" project with The Band, coupled with the obscure remains that is Skip Spence's "Oar" LP - an architectural relic.
During travels around the former Soviet Republics of Moldova and Armenia, erstwhile WCNI DJ Chachi came across a group of pirate radio operators, who had paid great sums of money to secure the lost tapes of Connecticut pop ensemble "Portersville" before their release. The idea was to buy in early on a possible 17 Relics reunion in hopes that the new band could actually get the job done.
These "futures" were widely traded in the newly independent states, like petroleum and distilled liquor, while fortunes were held in the balance as scenes from a grimy post-Clinton lower east side played out. Rural trespasses were the norm while searching for inspiration. This influx of capital was all that was keeping the group solvent.
When the band went kaput, the tapes were lost in the black market for years, being traded for astro-turf and used guitar strings that people were dealing in recycling scams. However, we here at the MMA have procured the means to release this music as the artists had originally intended. Fees will not be discussed. All that truly matters is that the sound of these recordings, let loose on the public for the very first time, are what the artist originally intended for you to hear.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ The same four artists who brought us 17 Relics assembled one of the best albums ever recorded back at the turn of the century. They call it Portersville. You have got to check it out....
